Speeding Ticket – Dismissed at Trial

September, 2021

Our client was charged with Speeding in the Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal from the Rhode Island State Police. Speeding is a civil motor vehicle traffic infraction. The potential penalties can include a fine, driver retraining and/or a license suspension.

Our client retrained our firm to represent them. After speaking with our client, we decided to select a trial date. At the trial date, the State Police were required to prove the Speeding charge by clear and convincing evidence.

On the trial date, we spoke to the State Trooper who gave our client the Speeding ticket. As a result of our conversation, the State Police agreed to dismiss the ticket.

This disposition helped our client avoid the potential penalties of a fine, driver retraining and/or a license suspension. In addition, it did not go in their driving record and did not have an effect on their car insurance.
