Jail Time Avoided Due to Sentencing Memo

July, 2019

Our client was charged with Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Failing to Stop for Police from an incident where the police were attempting to pull our client over. Our clientinitially did not stop and lead the police on a high-speed chase. The initial offer was for the client to plead Guilty and serve jail time. We put together a sentencing memorandum with a mitigation packet explaining the client’s circumstances including their employment, family life, current therapy and an analysis of their criminal record. As a result of the sentencing memorandum, the District Attorney’s Office agreed to probation rather than jail time.
