Obedience to Stop Sign – Failure to Obey Dismissed in Rhode Island

December, 2023

Our client received a traffic ticket in Rhode Island for Failure to Obey a Stop Sign. Rhode Island General Law 31-20-9 states:

“every driver of a vehicle approaching a stop sign shall stop. A violation of failing to stop at a stop sign could result in fines.”

We discussed the circumstances of the case with our client and performed an internal investigation into the facts. At the court date, we were able to reach an agreement with the police prosecutor to have our client’s charge dismissed. Therefore, we were able to avoid the penalties associated with the violation.
