License Suspension Reduced at RMV Board of Appeal

April, 2021

Our client received a 1 year license suspension in Massachusetts based on a DUI in Rhode Island. Our client believed that this was not right and wanted to be heard. We appealed this decision to the RMV Board of Appeals. We argued that our client should not have their license suspended because the case in Rhode Island resulted in a license suspension. We argued that our client had already served a punishment and the license shouldn’t be suspended further.

The board found our argument compelling and agreed to reduce the penalty to a 45-day license suspension. This suspension was retroactive to the time our client initially had their license suspended, meaning our clients license was no longer going to be suspended because 45 days had passed since the original order from the RMV suspended his license.
